Rev. Edwina D. Perrin is the pioneer of the “Passionate about Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness Event. "Passionate about Pink" was created on October 27th, 2018, in memory of her mother, the late Hildreth S. Perrin, who worked with the American Cancer Society, Best Chance Network, for over 25 years. Her mom was responsible for referring women to receive free mammograms and pap smears, and working with men who had been diagnosed with breast cancer as well.
"Passionate about Pink" is held every October. Each year we celebrate the survivors and honor those who lost their lives due to breast cancer. Under normal circumstances, Passionate about Pink is a lunch and learn where survivors give first-hand knowledge of why early detection is essential. During the lunch and learn, volunteers handout resources and a list of local providers who offer mammograms covered by health insurance.
Due to COVID-19, a “Passionate about Pink” 2020 drive-thru was held to distribute goodie bags that included Breast Cancer Awareness Pamphlets. This year survivors received pillows, masks, and quilts.
